Remedy Entertainment has recently provided exciting updates on its slate of upcoming titles, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor. Dive into the latest developments and insights into Remedy's future strategy.
Remedy Entertainment Provides Updates on Upcoming Titles and Publishing Strategy
Remedy Entertainment's upcoming games, including Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, have reached significant milestones in their development cycles. These updates were detailed in the company's latest financial earnings report, which sheds light on the progress of each project and Remedy's overarching strategy.
Control 2 Enters 'Production Readiness Stage'
Control 2, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Control, has achieved a pivotal milestone by entering the "production readiness stage." According to Remedy, the game is now playable, with the development team focused on scaling up production. This stage involves extensive game testing and performance benchmarking to ensure the game meets high standards. Additionally, Remedy mentioned that the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated to launch on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Production
Remedy also provided insights into the development of Codename Condor, a multiplayer spin-off within the Control universe. The project is currently in full production, with the team diligently working on multiple maps and mission types. Both internal and limited external playtesting are being conducted to validate features and gather feedback. As Remedy's first venture into live-service games, Codename Condor will be released with a "service-based fixed price."
Updates on Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake
The Alan Wake 2 expansion, Night Springs, has received glowing reviews and positive fan feedback. Remedy disclosed that Alan Wake 2 has already recouped most of its development and marketing costs, indicating strong performance. Furthermore, a Physical Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2 is scheduled for release on October 22, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders for both editions are now open on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, a collaborative effort with Rockstar Games, has advanced from the production readiness phase to full production. The team is currently focusing on creating a version that is playable from start to finish, while emphasizing key gameplay features that aim to differentiate the remakes.
Control and Alan Wake 'Key Part' of Remedy's Future
Remedy highlighted its strategic vision for the future, emphasizing the importance of the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Earlier this year, Remedy acquired the rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, giving them complete control over its future development, publishing, and other related aspects.
With full ownership of the IP and publishing rights for both series, Remedy is exploring various business models, including self-publishing and potential partnerships with other publishers. The company plans to share more details about its strategy by the end of the year.
"We have two established own franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future. In addition, we work with a partner franchise Max Payne that was originally created by Remedy," the company stated.
As the year unfolds, fans can anticipate further announcements regarding Remedy's plans for the Control and Alan Wake franchises, as well as updates on their upcoming games.
