After the release of blockbuster titles like *The Witcher 3* and *Cyberpunk 2077*, not all the experts at CD Projekt RED remained with the company. Some chose to embark on a new journey with *The Blood of Dawnwalker*. Recently unveiled, this game is being developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a veteran from CD Projekt RED.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a key figure behind Rebel Wolves, shared his motivations for leaving CDPR. He stated, "I wanted to do something different with my friends, so I started Rebel Wolves. Naturally, we have a strong interest in role-playing games and their history. [But] I believe that these RPG rules can be developed and expanded. We came up with some wild ideas." He acknowledged the challenge in convincing large corporations to innovate with new intellectual property, saying, "Since it would be difficult to persuade any large corporation to change and do something novel, you know [to work with brand-new] intellectual property, we came to the realization that if we wanted to do them, we would need to open our own studio." He also highlighted the risks involved, stating, "Since we're working on some novel solutions, it's actually risky."
Tomaszkiewicz emphasized the advantages of working in a smaller studio, explaining, "Unlike in large studios where it's more complicated, we work with people and between people [relationships] in our studio. A small team, in my opinion, is capable of more because there is communication among members and discussing the vision is simpler. Feeling the 'creative fire' and creating something unique is simpler."
