FromSoftware has released Elden Ring update 1.12.2, aiming to ease the difficulty of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, particularly in its early and late stages. While the DLC received critical acclaim, its challenging nature led to player frustration and even review bombing on Steam.
This update directly addresses player feedback by adjusting the effectiveness of Shadow Realm Blessings like Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes. Specifically, the attack power boost and damage reduction provided by these blessings have been significantly increased in the first half of their enhancement levels, with a more gradual increase in the latter half. The final enhancement level also receives a slight boost. This change should make the early and final encounters considerably less punishing.
Interestingly, Bandai Namco even issued a reminder to players to utilize these Scadutree Fragments, highlighting their importance in tackling the DLC's challenges. The update also fixes a bug on PC where ray tracing automatically activates when loading older save files, a known source of framerate issues. Players experiencing performance problems are advised to manually disable ray tracing.
Further balance adjustments and bug fixes are promised in upcoming updates. The complete patch notes detail the changes to Blessing enhancements and address the ray tracing bug on PC. The update is applied via the multiplayer server; players should ensure their Calibration Ver. shows "1.12.2" in the title menu. The patch notes explicitly encourage players to check and adjust their ray tracing settings if necessary.
