*League of Legends* has introduced an exciting new minigame in its client, available until the end of April. If you're familiar with *Balatro*, you'll find the mechanics of the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends* quite intuitive.
League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started
To dive into the Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Navigate to the game type menu by clicking the Play button, and select Demon’s Hand. This will initiate an engaging story introduction, followed by your first round of the card game.
Screenshot by The Escapist Your hand is displayed as the bottom row of cards. In the bottom right corner, you'll find your health, coins, and percent crit chance. Above that is your Sigil box, which can hold up to six active Sigils, though you'll start with none. Remember, your health doesn't regenerate after each battle. To restore it, visit the tent locations on your map, which will heal you by a certain percentage.
The enemy card sits at the top of your screen, with its health and damage shown at the bottom right and left, respectively. To the left of the enemy card, you'll see an attack coin indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy strikes. On the left edge of the screen, there's a book listing all the attack hands you can play and their standard round damage.
How To Play Demon’s Hand in League of Legends
Screenshot by The Escapist To inflict damage, you'll play poker hands, renamed in Demon’s Hand but following the same principles. The ultimate goal is to achieve The Demon’s Hand, a royal flush. Here's a breakdown of the hands and their poker equivalents:
- Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
- Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
- Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
- Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
- Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
- March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
- Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
- Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
- Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
- The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)
In addition to the base damage, the numeric value of each card contributes to the total damage. If the enemy has a special ability that negates a specific suit, those cards will be marked with a cross. You can still play them, but their numeric value won't add to the base damage.
Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils
Sigils are crucial for enhancing your gameplay. Purchased during store phases, marked by coins on the map, you earn coins by defeating enemies. Each Sigil offers unique abilities, visible when you hover over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils amplify the damage of specific hands, like Dyads, while others might grant you additional turns before enemy attacks or reduce the damage you receive.
That's all you need to know to master the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, be sure to check out the upcoming April Fools skins for a fun twist in Summoner’s Rift.
