Writer and filmmaker Ahmed Alameen is set to launch his debut point-and-click adventure game, My Father Lied, on May 30th. This narrative-driven puzzle game draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of Mesopotamian history. In My Father Lied, you step into the shoes of Huda, a young woman on a quest to unravel the mystery behind her father's disappearance, which occurred two decades ago. The journey begins when Huda uncovers the existence of a brother she never knew about, a secret her father kept hidden.
Originally, Alameen embarked on this project with a college classmate, where he served as the narrative designer. When the partnership dissolved, Alameen took it upon himself to delve deeper into game design to bring his vision to life. As players, you'll navigate through the game using point-and-click mechanics, piecing together images, cracking codes, and exploring hauntingly beautiful environments. Alameen likens the experience to a blend of Myst, Heaven's Vault, and the literary genius of H.P. Lovecraft.
In a creative twist, Alameen opted for a mix of 2D and 360-degree images for the game's visuals, including frame-by-frame crafted cutscenes. This approach ensures that My Father Lied boasts high-quality visuals that can run smoothly on low-end PCs.
My Father Lied will be available for purchase on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam for PC at a price of $10.99/€10.99 starting May 30th. You can add the game to your Steam Wishlist now, though mobile pre-registration is not yet available.
