Path of Exile 2 Early Access: Mastering Ascendancy Classes

Many PoE2 players are keen to optimize their chosen class, even in Early Access. While not a core feature, Ascendancy Classes add specialized abilities. This guide explains how to unlock and utilize them.

Unlocking Ascendancy Classes

To unlock Ascendancy Classes, complete a Trial of Ascendancy. Currently, the Act 2 Trial of the Sekhemas and the Act 3 Trial of Chaos are available. Completing either unlocks Ascendancy selection and rewards two passive Ascendancy Points. The Act 2 trial is recommended for earlier access to powerful abilities.

Available Ascendancy Classes

PoE2 Early Access features six classes, each with two Ascendancies. More classes and Ascendancies are planned for full release.

Mercenary:

• Witch Hunter: Enhances offense, defense, and battlefield control with buffs like Culling Strike and No Mercy. Ideal for players who enjoy debuffing enemies and maximizing damage output.

  

• Gemling Legionnaire: Focuses on Skill Gems, allowing extra skills and buffs. Offers flexibility for customized builds.

  

Monk:

• Invoker: Grants elemental powers and status effect infliction. A melee-focused elemental option.

  

• Acolyte of Chayula: Utilizes shadow powers, offering defensive, healing, and damage-boosting abilities. A unique, shadow-based alternative.

  

Ranger:

• Deadeye: Boosts ranged combat stats, improving speed, damage, and accuracy (Eagle Eyes, Called Shots). Perfect for archer builds.

  

• Pathfinder: Employs explosive poison and elemental damage (Poisonous Concoction, Contagious Contamination). A non-traditional ranged option.

  

Sorceress:

• Stormweaver: Amplifies elemental abilities, adding an Elemental Storm and increasing elemental damage. A solid enhancement for elemental casters.

  

• Chronomancer: Manipulates time, affecting cooldowns and offering strategic battle control. A dynamic playstyle option.

  

Warrior:

• Titan: Focuses on massive damage and tankiness, boosting defense and attack power (Stone Skin, Crushing Impacts). Ideal for tank-like builds.

  

• Warbringer: Summons Ancestral Spirits and Totems, providing additional damage and tanking capabilities. A summoner-focused melee option.

  

Witch:

• Blood Mage: Drains enemy life to restore health, increasing damage from wounds and curse duration. A life-manipulation focused build.

  

• Infernalist: Summons a Hellhound and allows shapeshifting into a fire-damage dealing demon form. A powerful minion and elemental damage option.
