Among the most eagerly awaited releases I covered last year, one that truly stands out is the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that emerged when the genre was still relatively new. Now, its sequel is set to launch in Q3 of this year!
This "seaquel" brings you back to New Elysia, where you embark on another thrilling journey across the ocean waves. Start your adventure by selecting a character, choosing a class ability, and building your initial deck!
In Pirates Outlaws 2, you have the freedom to select from multiple characters, each with seven class options. Customize your deck and recruit an animal companion to enhance the strategic depth of your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat, a new card evolution tree, and more, you'll have an arsenal of weapons to conquer the sea!
Run out the guns
Pirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, allowing you to explore back and forth across the map with even more permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For those on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will be your first opportunity to get your hands on Pirates Outlaws 2!
My only concern stems from the animations shown in the reveal trailer, which appear somewhat static to me. While fully animating these illustrations is challenging, I hope the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it arrives on mobile later this year.
To stay ahead of the curve, why not keep up with our regular weekly feature, Ahead of the Game? Start by checking it out today!
