Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently offered a deeper look into his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream with BreakthroughT1D. This follows the release of a "not-a-trailer-trailer" last month from Gallium Studio, the game's developer. The livestream provided substantial new details about Proxi's unique gameplay.

A Personalized AI Life Sim

The core concept of Proxi revolves around interactive memories. Players input personal memories as text, which the game then transforms into animated 3D scenes. These scenes, or "mems," are customizable using in-game assets to enhance their accuracy and personal touch. Each new mem added trains the game's AI, expanding the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment composed of hexagons.

This mind world populates with Proxies representing friends and family as more memories are added. Players can arrange mems chronologically and link them to specific Proxies to reflect the context and participants of each memory. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox.

Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating a deeply personal experience, stating, "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player," and jokingly adding, "It goes to figure that the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it." This personalization is achieved through the direct incorporation of players' own memories.

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
