Fans eagerly anticipating the debut episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld will need to log into Fortnite, as the first installments of the series are set to premiere exclusively within the game before arriving on Disney+.

Epic Games recently detailed its plans to expand its Star Wars content, announcing that the initial two episodes of the upcoming animated spinoff will be available only through Fortnite. This move is part of the company’s broader strategy to deepen its Star Wars integration for the upcoming Galactic Battle season, which promises a wave of themed in-game content and experiences.

Viewers can watch the opening episodes featuring Asajj Ventress via the Star Wars Watch Party island starting at 10 a.m. ET on May 2 — two days ahead of its Disney+ release. Epic is encouraging players to link their Epic Games and MyDisney accounts, with eligible users receiving a First Order Stormtrooper outfit as a reward. While the full scope of account-linking benefits remains unclear, Epic has hinted that additional perks are on the way.

“Disney and Epic are shaping the future of social entertainment together, and this expansive Star Wars collaboration offers a glimpse into the kind of interactive experiences we’re building,” said Adam Sussman, President of Epic Games. “We’re redefining immersive storytelling in Fortnite with one of the most cherished franchises in the world — there’s much more coming soon.”

The Star Wars Watch Party island will remain active until May 11, after which it will no longer be accessible. Alongside the episodes, the island will host a Battle Arena where players can engage in lightsaber combat against waves of enemies. Those who view both episodes will unlock an exclusive Asajj Ventress loading screen.

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld is a six-episode animated series created in the visual style of The Clone Wars, following Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. The show’s official synopsis teases that Ventress will encounter a new opportunity for redemption and forge an unexpected alliance, while Cad Bane is forced to reckon with his past actions.

Disney’s collaboration with Fortnite extends well beyond this limited-time event. In March 2024, the entertainment giant took a $1.5 billion equity stake in Epic Games, signaling a long-term strategic partnership between the two companies. This investment is expected to lead to deeper integrations across multiple franchises, including future Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar-themed content in Fortnite. Among the upcoming highlights are skins featuring Darth Jar Jar and Emperor Palpatine.

Since its launch in 2017, Fortnite has remained a dominant force in gaming. Its ability to consistently attract players through innovative crossovers and live events — such as the recent Sabrina Carpenter collaboration, where players traded pickaxes for dance moves — underscores its ongoing popularity and cultural relevance.
