Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3's traditional "Fall of Tristram" event is a fan-favorite, yet it's scheduled to conclude on February 1. Despite the community's desire for an extension, community manager pezradar has confirmed that prolonging the event is currently unfeasible. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar explained.

Additionally, pezradar addressed the delay of Diablo 3's next season, Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted some players' weekend plans. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January," he stated. The extra time will be used to implement and test the new code, ensuring a seamless transfer of player progress. Pezradar also acknowledged the need for improved communication with players at earlier stages, a point the team is committed to addressing in the future.

In other news, Wolcen Studio has introduced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing for players in Europe is set to begin on January 25, with North American players joining on February 1. "We've blended the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," said game director Andrei Cirkulete. Drawing inspiration from games like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, Project Pantheon invites players to step into the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a shattered world. The studio is keen to gather feedback from the player base during this testing phase.
