inZOI's Director Unveils Plans for Karma System and Ghostly Encounters

inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim recently revealed intriguing details about an upcoming Karma system that introduces a paranormal twist to the game's realistic setting. This system will determine the fate of deceased Zois, transforming them into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.

Kim explained in a February 7, 2025 Discord post that Zois with sufficient Karma points proceed to the afterlife, while those with insufficient points linger as ghosts until they accrue enough points to move on. The exact methods for restoring Karma points remain undisclosed.

The impact of these ghostly encounters will be carefully managed to avoid overshadowing the core gameplay. In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to specific times and circumstances, primarily involving unique conversations.

Kim expressed a desire to explore more fantasy elements alongside the game's realistic foundation, suggesting that these paranormal aspects will add a unique dimension to the life simulation.

A Glimpse into Karma Interactions

A sponsored video by content creator MadMorph in August 2024 offered a brief preview of the Karma Interaction system. This system allows players to perform actions that influence their Karma score, both positively and negatively. Examples shown included a mischievous act (secretly farting on another Zoi) and the potential for positive actions like discarding trash or liking a friend's post.

While the Early Access release (March 28, 2025 on Steam) will focus on the living Zois, the Karma Interaction system promises to play a more significant role in future updates.
