Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 nerfs are being rolled back after player backlash. A hotfix, 4.1, will revert the changes starting October 24th, 2024. This decision follows negative player feedback and review bombing on Steam.
The developers, Saber Interactive, cited player complaints that the game was too easy, even on the highest difficulty, as the reason for the initial nerfs. Patch 4.0 increased enemy spawns, but this negatively impacted easier difficulty settings. The upcoming hotfix addresses this.
Hotfix 4.1 Changes:
- Enemy Spawns: Significantly reduced on Ruthless difficulty; reverted to pre-Patch 4.0 levels on other difficulties (Minimal, Average, Substantial).
- Player Armor: Increased by 10% on Ruthless difficulty.
- Bot Damage: Increased by 30% against bosses.
- Bolt Weapon Buffs: Significant damage increases across the board (see detailed breakdown below).
Bolt Weapon Damage Increases (Hotfix 4.1):
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)
Saber Interactive also announced plans for public test servers, aiming for a launch around early 2025, to better gather and implement player feedback in the future. The developers will continue to monitor feedback following the release of Patch 4.1 to ensure the game's difficulty remains appropriately challenging.
