Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reverses Controversial Zombies Change

Treyarch has responded to player feedback and rolled back a recent change to the Zombies Directed Mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The January 3rd update introduced alterations to the Citadelle des Morts map's Directed Mode, significantly increasing the time between rounds and zombie spawns after five looped rounds. This proved unpopular, prompting the developer to reverse the decision in the January 9th patch.

The latest update not only restores the original zombie spawn delay (approximately 20 seconds after five loops) but also includes several bug fixes for Citadelle des Morts Directed Mode. These fixes address issues with quest progression, incorrect guidance, and visual glitches. Additionally, the update resolves crashing problems associated with the Void Sheath Augment for Aether Shroud.

Further improvements include substantial buffs to the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod. Activation rates for normal, special, and elite enemies have all been increased, while the cooldown timer has been reduced by 25%.

Key Changes in the January 9th Update:

  • Zombies Directed Mode: Reversed the extended round and spawn delays.
  • Citadelle des Morts: Numerous bug fixes addressing visual glitches, crashes, and quest progression issues.
  • Shadow Rift Ammo Mod: Significant buffs to activation rates and cooldown.

The patch notes also highlight fixes for various global issues, including character skin visibility, UI elements, and audio problems. Multiplayer received stability improvements and increased XP rewards in Red Light, Green Light. The limited-time mode, Dead Light, Green Light, now includes Liberty Falls and a higher round cap of 20.

Treyarch acknowledges that some fixes require more extensive testing and will be included in the Season 2 update on January 28th. This includes addressing the Vermin double-attack bug and enabling the Shock Charge speedrun tactic in Terminus. Season 2 will bring further bug fixes and additional changes. Players still have time to complete the Citadelle des Morts main quest before Season 1 Reloaded concludes.
