"Lies of P: Overture" Presents a Significant Challenge for Many
Community Response and Player Concerns

The "Lies of P: Overture" DLC arrived unexpectedly during Summer Game Fest 2025, generating considerable excitement. Despite its "Mostly Positive" reception on Steam, a wave of player feedback has focused overwhelmingly on its punishing difficulty.
As a Soulslike title, "Lies of P" is known for its demanding gameplay that tests player skill and perseverance. In a May 21st interview with VGC, Game Director Jiwon Choi acknowledged this by confirming the expansion would include difficulty options to broaden its appeal, stating, "We wanted to make sure a wider audience of players could play the game."

Despite these intended options, players who have delved into the DLC report that it remains extremely challenging even on the lowest setting. Many cite enemies capable of defeating players in a single hit. On the game's official Reddit, discussions about difficulty became so prevalent that moderators created a dedicated megathread for the issue.
Numerous players are calling for adjustments to player damage output, boss health pools, and the overall challenge curve. One common complaint is that weapons feel underpowered against groups of enemies that can defeat a player in just two hits. Others have noted that while the base game felt finely tuned, the DLC introduces noticeable stat inflation for bosses, making them feel disproportionately tough even with difficulty settings reduced.
The feedback megathread remains active, with players sharing their experiences. Although many are enjoying the new content, a significant portion of the community feels the difficulty spike has negatively impacted their experience and hopes the developers will implement changes.
Neowiz to Implement Difficulty Adjustments
Following extensive player feedback, Director Choi confirmed the team is planning updates to address these concerns. In a "Director’s Letter" video released on the official "Lies of P" YouTube channel on June 10th, he stated the team is evaluating when to implement community-suggested changes.
Choi emphasized a careful review of the combat experience: "We identified areas that did not turn out quite as we intended. Therefore, we are reviewing various adjustments, including difficulty reduction. However, combat is one of the most fundamental experiences in Lies of P, so any modifications or changes require meticulous work and thorough testing."
While a specific release date for these adjustments has not been announced, Neowiz's attentive response to player concerns has been well-received by the community. "Lies of P: Overture" is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
